Maarten van der Meiden (born 1973) studied  composition at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (The Netherlands), with Louis Andriessen. His musical pieces are characterized by a documentary style  in which he masters to figure out the most subtile emotions. Over time Maarten van de Meiden developed a unique sound. His idiom is tonal post-modernism. His use of seamless transitions between romantic and expressionist pieces is remarkable.

Create musical richness through informed simplicity or an interaction of simples rather than through unnecessarily busy agglomerations.
